Congratulations to Jake Kendrick, University of Western Australia PhD student, for publishing his work on identifying response to treatment of advanced prostate cancer via imaging analytics. Jake’s work on automated analysis of prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) nuclear medicine images has been published in the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging. The presented method is based on the use of deep learning to identify disease sites on the PSMA images and can be used to identify those patients with poor treatment prognosis. This will provide a tool to assist clinicians with patient management and, hopefully, improve outcomes for patients living with this complex stage of prostate cancer.
